A lot of shavers in the online forums will refer to the bathroom dedicated to their shaving stuff as the “shave den.”
We have one bathroom in the house. And that bathroom is small (like 6×8 feet small), but the closet is relatively spacious, though most of that is in depth and not in very useful space, because you might have to reach quite a ways into the closet to get something.
I’ve been thinking about reorganizing the shaving stuff for a while now. Some of it is because there are things I haven’t used in a year. Or more. And I really have more stuff than can comfortably fit into the Harbor Freight mini tool chest and two plastic bins.
So I cleared space on a shelf in my den. That wasn’t hard, really. It’s a horizontal surface, and those get cluttered quickly around here. So I cleared an entire shelf and moved the shaving stuff to the shelf and organized it roughly by brand and type of product.
So then there’s the question: how and when will I bring the shaving stuff I need up to the bathroom?

The bin. The weekly shaving bin. I plan my shaves, so I know what I’ll be shaving with every week. So I can shuttle the used stuff downstairs on Thursday or Friday, and bring up the coming week’s shaving stuff on Saturday or Sunday.
So you’ll notice a few things missing from the bin: the razor, blades, and brush. The blades, well, they’ll come up with the bin, yes. But for when this picture was taken, they were in the drawer of the tool chest. The razors will also stay in the tool chest, as that’s really the best place for them. As are the alum block and the remaining samples that I haven’t designated for travel.
And the tool chest will remain in the bathroom linen closet.
So there’s the plan and working organization for now. It’ll change more down the road, so stay tuned. But for now, this is it.
