Sunday SOTD – The Bic in the KCG

I've said it often that my experience with double edge or safety razor or wet shaving is a constant learning experience. I've got enough combination options to be able to change up almost every aspect of my shave with every shave. And there are still some things that I haven't tried...

The SOTD – What a Dorco!

I'm continuing to work through blades in my collection, and this time, it's the Dorco Platinum HQ Red. Dorco is an interesting story in the shaving world. Or at least I find it interesting. It's a South Korea-based company that largely makes razors for other companies around the world, and sells...

The Saturday Proraso Shave of the Day

You'll recall that a couple of weeks ago, I tried out the Bic Chrome Platinum blades that I'd had in inventory since last September. I'd seen them posted in the Wicked Edge subreddit a few times (certainly less than some of the other bigger names like Gillette Nacet and the Feather),...

SOTD – Proraso Sunday with the Durablade

Back in April, I'd decided to pull the trigger on getting my fourth razor, the Rockwell 6C. I've written about it (and my other razors) here. I'd also been wanting to get more of my favorite blade, the Gillette Nacet, but it had been in and out of stock everywhere, so...

The Sunday Gillette Platinum SOTD

In the Wicked Edge subreddit, the Gillette Platinum blade is frequently held up as a favorite. It's frequently presented as being very sharp and very efficient. I've had a tuck of them since I got my Gillette sample pack back in January, and this was the only blade in that sampler...

The Sunday Bic SOTD

The Bic Chrome Platinum blades shown above came to me as part of a sensitive skin blade sampler from Razor Emporium back in September 2024. (I see that since then, they have removed these blades from that sample pack and have moved them to a mild sampler pack). They're rated as...

SOTD – The King C Gillette shaves

This is the last week of the series where I decided to try using my three favorite and best razors (the King C Gillette, Henson AL13 + mild, and Rockwell 6C) with the blades they came with from the factory. Again, the idea was to see how the shave was as...

SOTD – Getting Over My Fears

It's the last shave of the week--Thursday. And this week, I've been using the Rockwell 6C razor with the Rockwell blades it came with. (You'll recall that I'm doing this because I wanted to see how my 3 favorite razors work with the blades their manufacturers paired them with). The SOTD...

SOTD – Proraso Sunday, All Rockwell

Back in the Blade post, I mentioned that I hadn't shaved with the blades that came with my 3 best (and most recent) razors. The reason was basically was that I'd already had favored blades that I wanted to try in the new hardware to see how it performed. But you've...
