Favorite Blade, New Razor Shaves

As I try to do with all new razors, I'm continuing to try favorite blades with the Oliworks M3teorite to see how it handles. And since the M3teorite is adjustable, with its three plates of varying aggressiveness/efficiency/mildness, that works out perfectly to try all three plates during my 3 shave weeks....

Organizationalizing

A lot of shavers in the online forums will refer to the bathroom dedicated to their shaving stuff as the "shave den." We have one bathroom in the house. And that bathroom is small (like 6x8 feet small), but the closet is relatively spacious, though most of that is in depth...

The Astra Green Comparison Shaves

This is week two of the Astra blade comparison shaves. If that doesn't mean anything to you, read last week's SOTD post, or just check out the next paragraph if you don't want to invest that much time or get into detail. Astra Superior Platinum blades (green). Similar to the Gillette...

The Astra Blue Comparison Shaves

Just a little behind-the-scenes for you: I planned this week's shaves (and next week's) the week before Christmas. And I'm really excited about these two weeks (and the two after that, but that's for a later post) because they give me the chance to compare two blades head-to-head. Astra Superior Stainless...

Let’s Talk (Blade) Gaps

I (and my shaving enthusiast brethren) talk a lot about mild, medium, and aggressive razors, or as some prefer: efficient and less efficient. While this is a somewhat subjective measure, it does have some basis in a quantifiable science: blade gap. Blade gap is the space between the blade and the...

The Jolly New Red Shaves

As you'll have read by now, I was gifted one item from my shaving wish list on Christmas--the Oliworks M3teorite aluminum razor in red. I've been seeing some good reviews and generally positive comments about it, and it seemed to tick the boxes for what I look for in a razor....

Another December Mail Call

Thanks to the sample haul back in July, there were a couple of lathers that I really have wanted to add to the collection. I put them on my wish lists for the family, but all I got from that was the Oliworks M3teorite aluminum red razor. (Okay, that sounds less...

The State of the Shave of the Day (TSOTSOTD)

It's the end of the calendar year now, with only a couple of hours until the clocks tick over to 2026, and this seems like a good time to look at 2025 and look ahead.

The Christmas Gift Haul

Christmas gifts are all opened and everyone is back where they should be. Friday will be a day of relaxation for everyone here, and hopefully for you too. I got one shaving item as a gift (though there are a few things coming that I've ordered for myself). That was an...

The Black and Yellow Christmas Week Shaves (with a debut)

It's Christmas week this week, and it's also the third and final week for now with the Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (yellow) blade. It's delivered some great shaves in the Rockwell 6C and last week was almost perfect across the board with the Henson AL13+ mild. So this week, it's...
