The 5 a.m. 7 O’Clock Black Shaves

I struggled with that title. Can you tell? See, I normally wake up at 5 a.m. to start my day, and this week likely is no exception, even with Thanksgiving coming on Thursday. Just as a reminder, last week went very well, with a clean sweep of almost perfect shaves with...

The Mild Strangelet 200th Shave Week

It's the last week (for now) with the PAA Platinum Strangelet Super Sharps. This week, I'm going with the Henson Medium, and while I could finish the tuck over the next two weeks and try it in the King C Gillette or Parker Semi-Slant, I won't. At least for now. It's...

The Medium Strangelet Shave Week

Week two with the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Platinum Strangelet Super Sharp blades. This week, I've moved over to the Henson medium, and I think I kind of know how this week is going to go. Last Thursday's shave with the Rockwell's plate 5 was fairly aggressive feeling, though oddly it wasn't...

The Mostly Proraso White Shave Week

I've been shaving with the Proraso white combo since early March of this year. And the Proraso soap was the second soap I purchased and used in shaving. It because a long-time staple of my Sunday shaves, becoming the defacto standard to start my shave weeks. But now that I've added...

The “How Medium is the Medium” SOTDs

In the Planning the SOTDs post, I talked about what goes into planning the shaves, and two considerations that came into play in a big way this week were a theme, and continued experimentation. This week, I'm continuing to use the Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless (green) blades. I've got 52...

Another Shark SOTD Week

If I haven't said it, and in case you haven't picked up on the idea here, I like to try the new to me blades in all 4 of my primary razors (the Henson mild, medium, the Rockwell, and the King C Gillette) to see how the blade performs in them...

That New Henson Smell Shave Week

What a week I have planned for you, face! We're closing out the month by putting a couple of new products to use, seeing how a new recent favorite blade works in the newest razor, and trying out a shaving soap stick that is a favorite of a ton of people...

Mail Call – Some New Additions

There have been some reports coming out of late in the forums and Reddit site saying that people are starting to notice price increases on a lot of shaving products due to tariffs. Let's face it, just like in other parts of our lives, a lot of shaving supplies (hardware and...

The Anniversary Month Blade Revisit

You know when you've had a tough week and just want to relax or do or eat something that just brings comfort? Yeah, that's where I was on Sunday morning. While the Van Der Hagen was surprising in that it wasn't quite as bad as I'd remembered, it still was a...
